Remove Bathroom Tile

Bathroom tiles make the floor and the walls very pleasant depending on where they are used. They also make cleaning very easy. Cracked or broken tiles however are ugly and make your bathroom unpleasant to use. The only viable solution to broken or cracking tiles is removing and replacing them with new ones. The process of removing bathroom tiles is easy but can be a nightmare if you lack the right tools and a bit of skills on how to go about it.

To remove damaged floor or wall tiles you need a hammer and a chisel to break the hard tile parts that are still remaining on the floor or wall. You may also need a special grinding saw that cuts the tiles without damaging the good tiles that do not need replacement. After that you will need a special adhesive that is used to join tiles. This adhesive is available almost all tile centers. It is wise to consult an honest tile specialist on the best adhesive to use when replacing tiles. To apply the adhesive you need a special knife called a putty knife. This is used to apply the adhesive evenly on the tile surface. The space where you want to fit the new tile must be free of particles and dirt.

Next step will be to match the tiles you have to find which one fits perfectly in the empty space. If a tile is bigger than the space, it will not fit properly and may cause you to break the adjacent tile which is unwise. Get a tile which easily sits in the empty space and press it gently to touch ground on all the four corners.

Tiles which have just been replaced must not be trampled on for at least a day. Items must not be placed on them also. Keep them dry for the entire period. The next day, the glue will have stuck well making the tile immovable. The remaining task is filling the empty contours between the new and the old tiles. The contours are filled using a thin mortar that may be prepared using building cement or other fillers that are available. The mortar is poured between the tiles until the spaces are full. It is then pressed and spread evenly to ensure no space is left between the tiles. Afterwards the tile surface is cleaned well to remove any mortar spillage. Give the tiles more time to dry before you start using the surface again.
